The Jewelers' Security Alliance (JSA) has announced that George Slicho, who retired last month as Zale Corp. senior vice president for loss prevention, has been retained by the JSA as a special consultant.Slicho will work primarily with the JSA on developing local crime-prevention networks of jewelers and police, as well as assist the JSA with its work involving retail jewelry chains.Slicho led the loss-prevention efforts at Zale for 17 years. Prior to that, he served for six years as a special agent with the FBI and as director of loss prevention at a department store chain.In January 2006, the JSA presented Slicho with the first JSA Industry Service Award.JSA President John Kennedy said he's thrilled that someone of Slicho's stature will be working with the organization."George Slicho is one of the leading experts in the world on loss prevention in the jewelry industry," Kennedy said in a media release issued on Thursday. "JSA has worked with George for many years during his tenure at Zale, and his help to JSA and his contributions to the safety of the jewelry industry have been immense."Kennedy added that Slicho has unparalleled experience involving security procedures and equipment, and has been responsible for more than 2,000 retail jewelry locations. He has also organized innovative training sessions on jewelry crime for many law enforcement audiences and has spoken many times at JSA seminars."His speaking and training skills will be of particular help to JSA in its project to develop 200 local crime-prevention networks of jewelers and police over the next three years," Kennedy said.
