Here’s an earful of advice for earring lovers

TAKE off your earrings before you go to bed or risk having one of them getting stuck inside the ear.

No, that's not an old wives' tale. It's what a teenager woke up to, according to China Press.

Huang Yan Chen, 17, who wore five pairs of earrings, felt pain when she awoke on Sunday morning.

“Then I realised one of my earrings was missing. I tried to retrieve it myself but it just got worse,” she said.

The beautician went to a district hospital and doctors discovered a 1.3cm earring wedged in her ear canal.

However, three doctors failed to retrieve the earring using a magnet, according to the paper.

Huang was then rushed to a hospital in Kota Baru and doctors there managed to get it out.

Entertainment cetntre singers pay a lot to syndicate

> Sin Chew Daily reported that entertainment centre singers from China were willing to pay a lot to a syndicate to get their social visit pass extended as the cost was cheap compared to what they could earn.

The daily quoted MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Michael Chong as saying that the singers could earn over RM10,000 a month at such centres.

“The singers could not get their social visit pass extended legally so they opted to pay more to the syndicate.

“For them, Malaysia is a paradise as their Malaysian customers are very generous in giving tips,” he said.

Last week, senior immigration department officers and others were detained by Anti-Corruption Agency for alleged graft.

Sources had said syndicate members collected between RM1,500 and RM6,000 to extend each social visit pass for between one and six months.

The normal rate charged by the Government for extensions is only about RM100 per month.
